She joined Fundsmith from Driehaus Capital Management, a specialist equity boutique based in Chicago, where she worked for two years introducing Driehaus’s equity portfolios to UK and European institutions. Catherine started her career at Lynch, Jones & Ryan, Inc., a New York-based brokerage firm in 1993. She worked for Pictet Asset Management for three years from 1998, where she marketed specialist investment portfolios to pension funds. Following this, she joined Alpha Investment Management before spending five years at Tremont Capital Management.
Commenting on Catherine Evans’s appointment, Terry Smith said:
“I’m delighted Cathy has joined the team. We can offer the kind of core global equity investment that institutions have been looking for. Cathy’s experience will be invaluable in identifying institutions that wish to invest for the long term alongside me on the same terms.”
Catherine added:
“It’s exciting to be involved from the beginning of such an innovative venture. A core, stable portfolio of resilient global companies held for the long term is exactly what many institutions require. In setting up Fundsmith the team have attempted to challenge every accepted wisdom in the asset management world, and it’s great to be part of it.”
